We’re heading to the beautiful Sheraton-New Orleans Hotel for Cross Country Dance Championships 2020 – the first Fred Astaire Dance Studios’ National Dance Competition of the year! With its jazz roots, delectable Creole cuisine, beautiful French and Spanish Creole architecture, and vibrant nightlife, New Orleans is sure to thrill and excite. The CCDC 2020 theme is (can you guess?) “Mardi Gras”, and the event will feature an exciting Big Easy Dance Camp on Tuesday September 1st (2-8 pm, open to FADS Pro-Am dance couples), and four days & nights of spectacular dancing, with an exciting “Grand Finale” Pro Competition on the final night. CCDC 2020 is a World Cup Series qualifying event – so you’ll be earning WCS points, too! Our host hotel features over 1,100 rooms (many with views of the Mississippi River or French Quarter), Roux Bistro restaurant and Pelican Bar, state-of-the-art fitness center, outdoor pool and a host of guest services and amenities. Want to venture out for a little adventure? We’re on Canal Street just steps away from the French Quarter, and minutes from Bourbon Street, Preservation Hall, Jackson Square and St. Louis Cathedral. There’s also the National WWII Museum, river tours on the Steamboat Natchez, New Orleans Museum of Art, Audubon Aquarium of the Americas and much more. Entries are due by August 7th, 2020 – talk to your FADS Instructor today. Welcome spring with us, and get dancing!
